The Old Station Gallery, Rowsley
The inspiration for my work can come from whatever sparks my interest. I try not to keep to fixed topics, as I like the freedom to explore all things. However, one recurring theme is the aesthetics of decay and degredation. With this series of work, I combine two processes. That is: photography and xylography. The camera's 'snapshot' capturing of an image and freezing it in a fraction of a second in time and the woodcut's lengthy reinterpretation of the same image highlights the difference between the scientific fact and the ephemeral truth.
